Abstract

Geet is a genre in Urdu and Hindi which refer to any poem set to Music.This genre of poetry belongs to the soil of sub- continent, and it is not Iranian or Arabic from its origin as compared to other genres of Urdu poetry. In this research paper the researcher has given a detailed description about the art and technical necessities of Urdu Geet. The researcher has also shed light on the cultural and aesthetical importance of Urdu Geet.
